Та же история с глаголами. Нужно избежать повтора – заменяем смысловой глагол на DO в нужной форме. С прочими вспомогательными формами это работает ещё легче. Выкиньте к чёртовой матери все лишнее, оставьте только вспомогательный глагол. Называется это эллипсис: • Laura has never been to The Bunny Ranch, but her sister has. (in fact she’s still there). • Gary thinks he’s sane but he isn’t. Ну это и ежу понятно. Можно вообще менять глаголы, упомянутые в первой части предложения, на всё, что угодно: • We’ve never TRIED doggy style with actual dogs, but I really think we SHOULD HAVE. ==== 3. Reduced Infinitive. Если так вышло, что вам нужно продублировать инфинитив – то сам Люцифер велел поступить таким же образом, как и выше. Всё, что мы оставим от инфинитива – лишь самую важную его часть, частицу “to”: • Damn, I know I should have bought those bitcoins back in 2011. I just didn’t want to. • I took those pills because the deejay told me to. • Are you really going to sell your kidney? – I’ve decided not to. • Want to come over to my house for lunch, Pooh? – I'd love to. • Didn’t Pierre give you a lift? – He offered to, but the hotel was close to where I live.
